Sparkle to share...............

I made this several years ago.  It's made from a lot of broken jewelry and other sparkly embellishments.  It weighs a lot.  I have to hang it from a very sturdy branch on the tree.  It always lifts my heart.          Diane

The state of my studio.........................

Christmas has come to my art studio and I'm long overdue for a post.  So here are a few things, some you've seen, some you haven't.  The sweet little tag hanging from the top of the mirror (blue ribbon) was made by my daughter as was what you can see of the scherenshitte.

A little Halloween still occupies the top of a chest of drawers.  My little great-grandson made me a picture and I just love it there so I left some potion bottles out to give it some company.

Just like your house there's much creating but most of it I can't post - Santa's secrets, you know.
It's been so cold here so it's great for spending more time writing, creating and playing in my studio.  I've definitely decided the yellow in this room has to go.  A dreadful job moving all this stuff to paint but sooner or later I have to do it.  I'm thinking maybe one wall at a time...............or maybe a half wall at a time.
I hope you're having a wonderful December.    Blessings, Diane

Not quite rich.................

The last two evenings on the news they've been talking about an anonymous graffiti artist in NYC who creates his street art and is gone before anyone can see him.  People think they could make a lot of money on his art if they could just find it in time. One of the pictures he created sent me running to my journals.

I had found an old book - maybe the 1960s - at SA and liked this picture (same one) and put it in my journal.  The picture was longer but I had to cut it down to make it fit my pages.

Poe

Don't we all just love Edgar Allen Poe?  Quite a nice looking gentleman, really, a bit on the morose side, though.  He fits this little SA frame quite well and I think he's looking forward to Halloween fun.  Diane

Autumn's here...................

......and my muse has decided to wake up from her long summer nap and begin thinking about autumn and Halloween.

You never know who might be hiding behind a mask.      Diane

Summer Has Taken Over.................

It's all there waiting for me, paints, markers, papers, ribbons.  The only thing I haven't had is time.  Creating this summer has taken on a new meaning - a fabulous trip to Alaska, a great visit from my daughter and her family, surviving the heat, doing yard work in the early morning and evening, watering and keeping the house in order.  I do journal, I always find time for that.  The days are getting shorter and the air is cooler with a touch of fall.  Winter, with way more time, awaits.                    Diane

Somebody's dream house.................

A picture I took a few years ago.  I was captivated by the
imagination of whoever it was that decorated it.

In a slump.................................

In case you haven't noticed by the date of my last post.  I'm sorry, summer and life has just run over the top of me.  I come into my art room, rearrange things, sort, and look.  And that's as far as I get right now.  I'm hoping that my muse will soon wake up, yawn, and be even more inspiring.  Hope you're staying cool, wherever you are.                     Diane

Just What I Need...................

Saw these whimsical birdhouses at the garden center yesterday.  I told myself I think I could make something like this.  After getting home and calling to ask for the prices, I told myself "I know I could make one of these.              Diane

Free Spirit

Today I finished this and I love the different stones.  There's a tiny bit of green in it just to make it a little bit unusual.  I listed it in my Etsy store.                  Diane

Celebrate!

This was fun.  When I was making it yesterday I was mentally counting how many I would make for everyone's birthday in a year!

Interesting but not twice.................

Last summer some wasps began making  a nest on a projecting nail under the roof of the patio.  They used a nail!  Soon it began to grow and I was carried away with the process.  It was amazing to watch.  Soon we had a problem.  Instead of  one or two wasps there were too many to deal with.  So we had to wait till a very chilly day and then I, of course, had to get it down.  I won't do that again, but, it was still a miraculous creation.                               Diane

Easter Wishes

This little bunny was originally a candy holder.  Years ago he cost me 25 cents at a garage sale.  Isn't it funny that you can remember exactly where you found your treasure even many years later?  And the low price makes it even more special?  I think if I'd paid more for it in a store it wouldn't mean nearly as much as this one.  The old postcard is from my Grandmother's collection.
Blessings to you this Easter.  He is Risen!                                              Diane

Another Journal Finished

My journals seem to be the only thing I consistently do.  In fact they're a passion.  I keep thinking I'll get other types of art done but mostly I do gifts.  This is my last one, it's 4" x 6", just the right size to tuck in and work on anywhere.
 Here are a couple pages
The little girl is my granddaughter who had just lost a tooth by falling on the playground face first.
Hope you have a wonderful and happy St. Patrick's Day.      Diane

Valentines and Romance

I'm finally getting a fire lit under me for Valentine's day.  I envy you gals who jump right in and begin creating and are all ready for the next holiday when it rolls around.  Snow falling, 30 degrees outside, a great day to be inside cutting and playing in my studio.  Hearts, flowers, thinking of the first grade and the red and white box that Mrs. Simms had decorated with valentines and how much fun it was to anticipate what must be inside.  As it was usually we each got a valentine from all of the other kids and one from the teacher, and heart shaped cookies and little cups of punch..  What a wonderful holiday.                   Diane

Hearts on My Mind........

Seeing all the beautiful and artsy spoolies floating around I just had to try making some.  This was my first attempt.  Valentines's Day and the month of February are just fun and full of hearts, and red, and lace and all those lovey things.                        Diane

I only wanted .............

...........to remind myself of some colors that I liked and ended up doing this little piece in my little journal.  It's darker than the colors I loved, peaches, yellows, lipstick reds, and dark navy or black and even some sepia's.  It evolved into this which I call promise.  Diane

Sister Gift

This little wall hanging was a gift I made for my sister.  She's such a peach and I wanted her to have something from my hands, I know she appreciates things like that so much.     Diane
